The Sandwich Fit For A Queen

I was recently introduced to a Victorian Sandwich and I can’t believe the introduction did not happen sooner. The Victorian Sandwich is the sandwich fit for a queen.

Victorian Sandwiches, are named after Queen Victoria given her fondness for the dessert. During her reign, after noon tea became wildly popular amongst royalty and nobility ultimately becoming part of English culture and etiquette.

Tea service was creating to provide a small meal after lunch and before dinner in which small sandwiches, cakes, breads, and various sweets would be served with tea.

The custom was quickly adopted by Queen Victoria. She would invite her friends to partake in tea and served slices of a sponge cake filled with raspberry jam and whip cream. Queen Victoria served the cake in her tea parties so often the cake would later be named after her.[nextpagelink][/nextpagelink]
