The Amazing Outcome Of Using 7-up When Braising Chicken

It’s not often you have the brilliant idea of cooking with soda. Most people do their absolute best to avoid the carbonated sugary drink at all cost.

Soda may not be the best thing for you but but it helps make a mean marinade and it tenderizes meat like you have never experienced.  The recipe below uses the popular lemon-lime drink (7UP) make a super tender and super tasty braised chicken in brown sugar and garlic.

To get the best results out of this recipe be sure to use your slow cooker!

Ingredients 

  • 1 large chicken, cut into serving pieces

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 2cup vinegar

  • 1cup Sprite or 14 cup 7-Up soda

  • 2 -3 tablespoons minced garlic

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon pepper (regular black or cayenne)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken in crock pot.

  2. Mix all remaining ingredients and pour over chicken.

  3. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

  4. Serve over rice or noodles.

  5. You can thicken the juices after cooking with a little cornstarch.
