Taco Tuesday’s Will Never Be The Same Again

As far as unique and creative recipes go, this recipe is up there. I mean way up there, as in stratosphere up there. The taco shells are made using an old Italian technique that uses cheese to make thin wafer-like cheese crisps. These crisps are called Frico and are absolutely delicious as a starter or snack to just about any meal.

The taco shells you will be making for your amazing tacos, uses the same concept of melting cheese in Frico except you will be shaping these into taco shells.

Give this recipe a try and then run and tell your friends all about how cool it is.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups finely shredded Cheddar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Suspend a ruler, wooden spoon, or chopsticks on top of two glasses or mason jars (you will make a little bridge).
  2. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the shredded Cheddar on the baking sheet to form a circle 6 inches in diameter. Repeat with another 1/2 cup of cheese, making 2 circles.
  3. Bake the first batch until the cheese melts and turns light brown, 6 to 8 minutes.
  4. Using a spatula, transfer the cheese circles to the suspended ruler, spoon, or chopsticks to form taco shells. Let them hang until firm, then carefully remove. Repeat with the remaining cheese.
  5. Fill the shells with your favorite taco fillings.
