When it comes to cooking and classic recipes, pot roast is at the top of the list considering the food movement that occurred during the 1950’s.
I can’t speak for the rest of the world but the 1950’s were an interesting time for American cooking and culture. World War 2 ended 5 years prior (1945) the Korean War had just started and people were trying to find ways of reestablishing their daily living. It was a time in which the “American Dream” was just beginning.
People were purchasing their first home, they had 1-2 new cars, men went to work and the wives stayed home to cook and take care of the kids and home. I don’t mean to be misogynistic, I am just letting you know the way things were back then.
During this time period, companies were beginning to create products to make people’s quality of life “better” which also gave way to the excessive consumerism we know today but that is a topic for another day.
