Muffuletta sandwiches have now become staples in NOLA (New Orleans), however many people are still not as familiar with them as say gumbo, jambalaya, or beignets.
If you ever get the opportunity to visit NOLA, I highly recommend eating one of these incredible sandwiches.
Here is the layout of the Muffuletta sandwich. You take the Muffuletta (bread), slice in half horizontally and then cover one side with an olive salad made up of pickled veggies aka Giardiniera, mortadella, salami, mozzarella, ham, and provolone. Slap on the other half of the bread and enjoy.
