There aren’t very many movies about the restaurant industry that receive warm regards by movie critics. Most movies that take place in or around the kitchen tend to be discarded like 2 day old restaurant leftovers. I was pleasantly surprised when Jon Favro’s “Chef” received high acclaim by movie critics.
The movie has a star studded cast including Jon Favro, Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, Scarlett Johansson, Dustin Hoffman, Bobby Cannavale, Oliver Pratt, and let’s not forget Robert Downy Jr.
If you have not watched the movie I suggest watching it on Netflix (if still available) or renting it on Amazon. Without spoiling the movie, the story is about L.A renowned chef Carl Casper who is feeling lost as a result of working for a very controlling restaurant owner to a popular L.A restaurant. Some unfortunate events take place on social media that leave Carl having to reinvent himself and his future in the food industry.
In the movie, John Favro’s character (Carl) comes up with a recipe for Cubano Sandwiches made with Mojo Cubano and the crowd goes wild. This is the original recipe from the movie Chef and it was created my L.A Chef Roy Choi who served as a consultant in the making of the film. [nextpagelink][/nextpagelink]
