To start things off we have English apple pie. The expression has always been “American as apple pie”, however apple pie has roots that date back to England circa 1381 and it was called Tartys In Applis. If you recall history class, American was first “discovered” by Columbus around 1492. It wasn’t until 1607 that apples were first planted by earlier settlers in what we now call the US thanks to the events that took place on July 4, 1776, so how do you like them apples?
