I didn’t grow up eating Hamburger Helper. No disrespect to any of you who did, but it just wasn’t something that caught my families attention. Now that I am an adult with a busy life, Hamburger Helper appeals even less to me despite a busy life. That was until I came across American Chop Suey aka American Goulash.
You take pasta (which I love), combine it with a meat sauce like Bolognese (which I also love), and you throw in a bunch of cheese (which I am fond of), and viola, a simple yet very tasty meal in minutes. The first time I tried it I was skeptical but then I could not stop myself from eating a second and almost third serving.
That got me thinking, what about Hamburger Helper? It’s pretty much the same thing. Then I thought why not make it at home from scratch. Luckily, Ashley from The Recipe Rebel has already done the complicated work for us and created a mouthwatering copycat version of the popular comfort food.
Her recipe looks amazing and it uses fresh ingredients making the box version obsolete.
