Chocolate Custard Cake Is Your Salvation From Lava Cake

You are probably wondering at this point, “what does this have to do with lava cake and recipes”? Well, much like the first time you…ahhm “got to spend the night” with the special someone.

You probably remember your first lava cake. I certainly do. Lava cake in the food world is a perfect example of food porn. A term that has been now openly used to describe all manners of food, cheesy, drippy, or just sitting there.

Lava cakes originated in the fine dining scene and much like everything that happens in an elite environment. It’s only a matter a time before it becomes available to everyone. Don’t believe me? Lava cake is so popular that at the moment Domino’s Pizza now has lava cakes on their menu and they form part of their “daily specials”.[nextpagelink][/nextpagelink]

I was wondering if a glass 9×9 baking dish can be used? The temp is right for glass bakeware use, & I guess the question lies in whether or not greasing the glass bakeware will prevent it from sticking.
I’ve, obviously, all the ingredients, & am going to make this tonight for dessert.
So, I presume, we will find out.

Hi Cin,

That is a great question. Yes, you will want to grease your glass baking dish well because glass and ceramic baking dishes have a greater tendency for food to stick to them. Something else to keep in mind is glass takes a long time to heat but it retains the heat long after the bakeware has been removed from the oven. A good rule of thumb is to reduce the cooking temp by 20-25 degrees because the cooking will continue after the dessert is out of the oven. Be sure to let us know about your results.
