Okra is one of those odd little vegetables that I feel is a bit misunderstood. From the outside they look like hairy little chili peppers. Cut them open and they are gooey and slimy like a cactus.
Typically, most people eat okra fried, however you can eat them in several different ways. How about gumbo? Yep, okra makes an appearance in this superb dish and depending upon who you ask okra in gumbo is not a choice but a necessity.
The topic of this recipe is not the many ways to cook okra because as much as I would like to continue blabbing about different okra recipes I think our time would be better spent on southern stewed okra. [nextpagelink][/nextpagelink]
