Chocolate Cake-In Only One Bowl

Baking cakes can be fun, but super messy and often your kitchen looks like Hansel and Gretel tried to eat your kitchen made out of chocolate. For those of you who cook with your children present you know exactly what I am talking about.

A quick solution to the problem is finding a cake recipe that only requires one bowl instead of several. That can’t be you say, oh it is my friend, it is. Ask and you shall receive.

Well, you didn’t really ask but we figured it would be a kind gesture to show you a food hack that can simplify your life and need for cake.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9 inch baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Mix the ingredients using an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.  After the batter is mixed, add the boiling water and stir with a rubber spatula until well incorporated (keep in mind the batter will be very thin). Pour the batter evenly amongst the two pans.
  3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center of each cake. If the toothpick is clean the cake is finished.
  4. Allow the cakes to cool for 10-15 minutes in the pan then remove to a wire rack to finish cooling before decorating.
