Trout can either be caught in fresh water, which is how most people know about trout or you can catch trout in the sea. This occurs when a trout born in fresh water decides to swim its way out of a stream or lake and into the ocean. When they do this, trout are able to develop gills that allow them to breathe and live in salt water.

Depending on which type of trout you end up purchasing, or catching if you happen to fish. You will experience a completely different tasting fish because their diets in fresh water vs salt water are totally different thus changing the flavor of the fish.

Up until now I probably have not convinced you to try trout. You are probably saying to yourself, what’s the big deal with trout? Maybe this will help persuade you. Trout is part of the salmon family. Say whaaatt? Unless you ate trout on a regular basis you probably would have never noticed.

Some people really like salmon, I am one of them but you get tired of eating it which is why trout is an excellent option. The flesh is buttery and even though it resembles salmon it is not salmon. Remember, trout can either be caught in fresh or salt water which means they will taste completely different. You also get a different flavor depending on which fresh body of water the fish is caught so it’s a new experience every time.
