Fork Tender Balsamic Shredded Beef

Not to say there is anything wrong with BBQ that uses pulled pork or beef. I simply like a little variety and creativity every once in a while. This balsamic shredded beef is really impressive when you look at it from a practical standpoint as well as a creative one. The recipe is


One other really nice detail about this dish is it can be served two ways. You can shred the meat and serve with your desired starch of choice or you can simply slice the meat like a classic pot roast. Either way, this modified recipe from Shugary Sweets and Add A Pinch will not disappoint.

Ingredients 

  • 4 lb beef chuck roast
  • 3⁄4 cup beef stock
  • 1⁄4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 1⁄4-1⁄2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3 minced garlic cloves

Instructions

  1. Add all of the ingredients to your slow cooker. Add the chuck roast, cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until the meat can easily be pulled apart with a fork.
  2. Serve two possible ways.
  • Slice the roast then serve desired slices with a decent amount of balsamic gravy.
  • Shred the meat using two forks. Put back into the balsamic gravy in the slow cooker. Mix well until all of the balsamic gravy coats the meat.
